San Diego or Bust!

Spring Break 2008

We packed up and headed west with the kids & spent a week in San Diego.  We were there for Easter & it was so fun watching the kids find their Easter baskets with the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop.  Yes, I packed an entire suitcase with Easter stuff...after Easter the bonus was an empty bag for souvenirs!

In Like a Lion, Out like a Lamb

Our Backyard March 31, 2008

Well really, it's the opposite.  In like a lamb, out like a lion!  Will the snow ever end?  This winter, the first snowfall was December 1, and here it is March 31 & we got a serious, white-out storm today.  It's still snowing at 7:00 and I can hear snowblowers in the neigborhood. Global warming? What's that?!  I have been missing our boat pretty much since we put it away in storage last fall & it seems so far away until we can put it back on Lake Minnetonka.  Days like today really make summer especially sweet!  Yesterday, Kevin ran off the gas out of our snowblower and revved up his lawn mower...hmmm...I think it that's what jinxed our spring.  I'm going to get some daffodils at the flower shop & bring some springtime cheer home.  Lord knows we won't see them sprouting outside for awhile!  Until then, please keep your snowblowers gassed up...and your lawnmowers silent!  Watch for Spring Break photos soon.  Thank God we got out of this climate for a week!

Spring Has Sprung

It reached 50 degrees this past Tuesday & we played outside for hours!  It was a sunny day & it felt great.  We played with bubbles, which was Addison's favorite.  This spring & summer will be fun for Addison, because she can ride on riding toys, too.  The snow is melting away  & there are huge puddles along the streets.  I'm sure the girls will put their rain boots on & jump in them this weekend!  Spring is definitely the reward after a long winter.

Here's to Good Friends,Tonight Is Kind of Special

BFF

Visiting my best friend Andrea & her family while we in Colorado was definitely a highlight.  I thank God every day for you, Andrea!  We go way back to jr. high days & it was fun reminiscing.  Growing up, Andrea said she was going to leave Rhinelander & head for the mountains... well she was true to her word & moved out to CO with my help & a U Haul!  She's has a 4 awesome kids, a great hubbie & a fantastic log cabin home right on the Colorado River.

We drove from Vail to Andrea's & I've visited her before, but not to the new log cabin on the river.  So I sorta knew what I looking for.  Log cabin, green roof. How hard could that be? We drove about 10 minutes off of I-70 and see I a log cabin with a green roof.  So I told Kevin to turn in, because that's got to be Andrea's.  I didn't see the house #, so Kevin thought I was totally wrong.  We sat in the driveway for a minute, then I spotted it... A Hodag on the deck!!!!!  Who else but someone from Rhinelander would have a Hodag on their deck?
Log cabin, green roof + Hodag=destination!

Thanks for the fabulous dinner, Andrea & Christopher!  We're bringing the whole fam damily next time!

Apres Ski

Vail Village

After skiing the front side of Vail for nearly 6 hours, we found a great spot at the base to hang out and enjoy the sunny afternoon.  R & R was definitely needed after such a full day. We had fantastic weather & it was in the high 30's. I enjoy beach vacations, but given the choice between the beach or the mountains, I'd choose mountains every time. However, I've never been to Hawaii, so I don't have that to compare with the mountains!  I love the quaint mountain villages & majestic mountains.  I ride the chairlift & can't help but feel God's presence. I love the rush of shushing down the mountain & the feeling of complete exhaustion.  I wear it like a badge I've earned from playing hard all day. I am very thankful for this vacation!

Skating Champions

We had a fun day a couple of Sundays ago.  The girls hadn't iceskated yet this winter, so we headed to Pheasant Hills park & had the rink all to ourselves.  It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon & the girls really enjoyed themselves.  Francesca used Addi's stroller for balance for an hour & the next hour she skated all by herself.  Georgia was good to go the entire time, but she did have a few wipeouts!  Check out her knees.  I skated, too, however skating was over for me when I hit a soft spot in the ice & went flying! Oochie Mama!

All Ready for Bed

Addi loves bedtime, which is so nice after a busy day.  She must have her blanket, which she calls "nigh-night", her nuk and something soft to hug.  Tonight it was Elmo. She does love the red, furry guy & can say Elmo with much vigor!  I'm pretty sure there will be an Elmo birthday party for her in July.  History repeats itself, because Francesca's 2nd b-day party was an Elmo party too.  Time to get the "big girls" in bed.  Good Night!
