My dad earned these medals while in the Marines 1967 - 1972.
In order of how they are arranged on the bar:
Meritorious Service: earned for service above & beyond the call of duty
Commendation Medal: Earned for heroic or meritorious achievement or service. The "V" stands for valor.
Good Conduct: Outstanding performance & conduct during 3 years of continuous active service in US Marine Corps
National Defense Medal: Defending our nation
Vietnam Service Medal with 4 stars: earned for serving in Vietnam during 1965 - 1973. I believe he earned 4 stars because he was there during 4 phases. There were 17 phases of the Vietnam War.
Republic of Vietnam Campaign: Earned for anyone who served in Vietnam during the active war
I'm so proud of you, Dad. I am proud to be the daughter of such an honorable Marine.
